Ordered by Nanna Svartz (1890–1986), physician, Doctor of Medicine and Sweden’s first female professor at a state university in 1937. Delivered June 1937. Silk tailcoat and long, slim skirt. Nanna Svartz wore the jacket with a cream silk pussy-bow blouse with mother of pearl buttons. Her monocle (eyeglass) was kept in the breast pocket. At her ceremonial installation she also wore the traditional doctor’s hat. The emblem of the medical profession is embroidered in silk on the velvet collar.
