Avrättningar var ovanliga i Sverige. De utfördes tidigare av en skarprättare genom halshuggning med bila. Fallbila, eller giljotin, infördes 1906 och ansågs fysiskt smärtfritt för den dödsdömde och mer humant då en maskin skötte dödandet och inte en människa.

Men inställningen till dödsstraff höll på att förändras och 1921 avskaffades det i fredstid. Alfred Ander blev den siste att avrättas i Sverige och den förste med giljotin.

Hello ! About to publish a book about the history of the guillotine - which will contain a chapter about the Swedish Fallbila -, I'm currently looking for illustrations, but I'm not sure : is using that picture is considered a commercial use, or is it considered sharing, since it's not the only picture, nor the main item of the book ?
