HistoryValdeborg Johansson föddes 1891 i Göteborg som yngsta barnet i en syskonskara av sju. Tragiskt nog avled hennes mor i barnsäng två månader efter Valdeborgs födelse. Det var mostrarna Maria (1840 – 1925) och Josefina ”Fina” Eriksson (1856 – 1928) i Kållered som tog hand om det lilla spädbarnet.
Valdeborg växte upp på Vommedal Östergård, även kallad "Olas stuga". Hennes far gifte om sig, men den nya hustrun och Valdeborgs två små halvsyskon dog i lungsot några år senare.
Det var mest "Fina" som fostrade sitt syskonbarn. Valdeborg fick fina kläder och leksaker, såsom en porslinsdocka, dockvagn och ett dockskåp med servis. Hennes kamrater hade inte lika fina leksaker och de tyckte nog att hon var lite bortskämd.
Det var Valdeborgs far och bröder som omhuldade lillasystern på detta sätt. Och kanske hon blev stärkt i sin karaktär tack vare av all omsorg.
SOM UNG KVINNA
Valdeborg blev en självständig kvinna med många vänner och intressen i livet. Lärarinneutbildningen startade på folkskola i Göteborg, sedan fortsatte hon i Götiska Förbundets skola i Mölndal, och tog betyg år 1904.
Därefter blev det ”Privatseminariet för utbildandet av småskollärarinnor" i Göteborg. Med fina avgångsbetyg, speciellt i Kristendomskunskap, Naturkunnighet, Pedagogik samt i Gymnastik och Slöjd. Hon utexaminerades år 1910.
Efter några års arbete i Lilla Edet och Gråbo erhöll hon år 1915 en ordinarie lärarinneplats i Nårunga småskola i Västergötland. Med fina vita möbler - som lärarinnor fick på den tiden (kanske som kompensation då lärarinnor inte fick yrkesarbeta om de gifte sig), arbetade hon i Nårunga fram till sin pensionering år 1952.
SOM LÄRARINNA
Valdeborg Johansson hade sedan unga år - likt sin moster ”Fina” - varit medlem i Kållereds Missionsförsamling, ett intresse som höll i sig genom livet.
Hon pratade gärna och ofta om sin tro. Hon var frikostig med gåvor, deltog i Nårungas frikyrkliga verksamhet, var med i sångkören och ledde en söndagsskola. Valdeborg reste mycket, deltog under somrarna i konferenser, i fortbildningskurser, och hade många vänner - även utomlands. Varje sommar reste hon på 2-3 veckors semester i Sverige, oftast med tåg, och besökte bl a Lappland, Jämtland och Stockholm.
Hon dokumenterade sitt liv i fotoalbum, och där ser man de kära skolbarnen, bilder från resorna, och personer hon mött under konferenser, speciellt de under Missionsförbundets regi.
Valdeborg brevväxlade mycket med vänner och bekanta. Det finns bl a ett tackbrev för hennes gåvopaket till en person under krigstidens Norge, och från en väninna på missionsarbete i Indien.
Valdeborg gifte sig aldrig. Hon bodde i en lägenhet i skolhuset i Nårunga, och skolloven tillbringade hon i Kållered. Mittemot Olas stuga hade hennes mostrar byggt ett nytt hus som Josefina ärvde. Där delade hon en lägenhet med sin bror Knut Hagberg (1885 – 1980).
Valdeborg Johansson avled 1970.
