this balja for a french artillery-sword (faskinkniv) M 1816 is modified by Germany. The french swords were captured in the French-German war 1870-71. German soldiers used them in that war and modified the scabbards by adding the belt-hook to fit to the Germa-belt-frogs. At the hook to see is na German inspection-mark.
