"Nu väntar ett härligt sommarlov
I fredags var det skolavslutningarnas dag.
I Kållered var nog förväntningarna störst vid Ekenskolan. Där begicks premiär. Skolan är bara ett år gammal. Ryktet sade att det skulle bli en enkel tillställning, men i själva verket spelades, sjöngs, talades och spexades det i nära en och en halv timma.
Särskolerektor Leif Cederloo tackade för samarbete med Ekenskolans personal och elever. Eventuella problem under skolåret hade varit nära noll. Han nämnde också att Ekengymnasiet skulle bli en integrerad skola.
Från lövad vagn önskade till slut rektor Hillerström sina elever GOD SOMMAR.
Vid Brattås och Liveredsskolan firades avslutningsdagen i fin stil i sol men i en besvärande blåst. Mellanstadieeleverna vid Brattås och de minsta vid Livered strålade i kapp med solen, så att säga. Förälder, mor- och farfäräldrar såg belåtna och stolta ut. Nu väntar sommaräventyret med förhoppningsvis massor av glädjeämnen

Ekenskolan togs i bruk i början av 1980-talet. Elever (åk 7-9) och lärare klagade över inomhusmiljön som gav många återkommande huvudvärk och andra allergisymtom.
1998 togs skolan ur bruk och samtliga elever fick börja på Streteredsskolan istället.
Det konstaterades att pålskallarna under golvplattan trängt igenom betongen och ledde in fukt. Detta löste upp limmet under plastmattorna som tillsammans utsöndrade hälsovådliga kemikalier. I lokalerna bedrivs nu affärsverksamhet.
Kållereds Hembygdsgille bildades 1977 som en hembygdsförening för Kållereds socken (församling).
År 2013 år byttes namn till Kållereds Hembygdsförening.
Syftet är att tillvarata/samla in minnen, föremål och annat som belyser Kållereds historia. Även att genom program och annat skapa gemenskap/mötesplatser i Kållered. Föreningen har en hembygdsgård i Långåker, belägen i västra Kållered.
