Konstnären Severin Nilson (1846-1918) var en smedson vars föräldrar arbetade och bodde på Knobelsholms gård i Asige (Falkenbergs kommun). Han studerade vid Konstakademin i Stockholm 1864-1871 samt i Paris 1873-1875 och skapade sig ett namn som fotograf, målare, tecknare och kulturhistoriker. Som fotograf är Severin Nilson mest känd som en folklivsskildrande fotograf i nationalromantisk tradition och en av de första med dokumentärt anslag. Motiven visar enkla människor och deras vardag i den egna miljön, företrädesvis Halland. Han bodde i Stockholm men tillbringade somrarna i Halland med eller utan fru och barn. 1885 köpte han Björsgård och flyttade dit torpet Sveaberg från Knobesholm, där familjen bott från ca 1853. Severin inredde ett rum i stugan till sommarateljé. Hans mor, syster och systerson bebodde på gården. Sveabergsstugan på Björsgård är numera museum och byggnadsminnesförklarad.
