Ågesta combined Nuclear heating and Power plant, documentation 2005-2008

Ågesta Combined Nuclear Heating and Power Plant was the first nuclear power reactor to produce power and heating for the market in Sweden. It was operational 1963-1974.

The Ågesta Combined Nuclear Heating and Power Plant was situated 15 kilometers south of Stockholm. The plant had a capacity of 12 MWh electric effect plus 65 MWh district heating. It was built as a prototype heavy water power reactor.

The Ågesta Combined Nuclear Heating and Power Plant is planned to be decommissioned around 2020.

During 2005-2008 Tekniska museet, Stockholm County Museum and Stockholm County Administrative Board made a documentation of Ågesta Combined Nuclear Heating and Power plant. The result, including an evaluation of the cultural value, was published in Ågesta - kärnkraft som kulturarv in 2008.

Almost 300 photos from the documentation are collected by Tekniska museet. A selection is put on display in this small exhibition and all the images are available to public at digitaltmuseum.se
