Ålandsexpeditionen var en svensk militärexpedition till Åland 1918, under första världskrigets sista år. Läget på Åland blev oroligt då tsarimperiet fallerade 1917 och Finland utropade sig självständigt.
Det uppkom krav från den svensktalande befolkningen på Åland att de skulle få tillhöra Sverige. Sverige skickade då en expedition till Åland för att skydda den svensktalande åländska befolkningen och för att medla mellan de finska och ryska trupperna. Åland hamnade tillfälligt under svenskt beskydd. Fartyg som deltog var: Isbrytaren I, ångfartyget Runeberg, pansarbåten Thor, kanonbåten Svensksund samt pansarbåtarna Oscar II och Sverige samt en bataljon med soldater.
Finland bad sedan Tyskland om hjälp att föra hem de ryska trupperna och den svenska hjälpen behövdes då inte längre. Sverige begärde folkomröstning om Ålands tillhörighet men finska regeringen avvisade detta. Nationernas Förbund fick sedan uppdraget att lösa frågan, Åland blev finskt men kultur och språk skulle respekteras.
