Albatros B.II är ett tvåsitsigt flygplan som tysken Ernst Heinkel ritade – samma person som senare konstruerade världens första jetflygplan.
Det tyska flygplanet Albatros B.II flög första gången 1914 och hade goda flygegenskaper. Tillverkaren skickade det till Sverige som var ett av flera planerade stopp under en uppvisningsturné i Europa. Vid landningen i Stockholm skar ett hjul ner i marken och propellern skadades. Under väntan på reservdelar hann första världskriget bryta ut och piloten var tvungen att återvända till Tyskland. Det herrelösa flygplanet blev kvar i Sverige. Albatros B.II blev sedan förlaga för en omfattande kopiering och tillverkning på många håll i Sverige.
Totalt tillverkades 40 kopior av Albatros B.II i Sverige. De användes som obeväpnat spaningsflygplan under första världskriget. Senare byggdes det om till skolflygplan.
Åtta flygplan av typen Albatros fördes över till flygvapnet när det bildades 1926. Där fick de beteckningen SK 1 och användes som skolflygplan fram till slutet av 1920-talet. Flygvapenmuseums Albatros byggdes på Malmen 1925 och togs ur tjänst bara fyra år senare.
Flygplanet tillverkades 1925. Det fick nummer 464 inom arméflyget. När flygvapnet bildades 1926 övergick det till beteckningen Sk 1. Flygplanet placerades vid F 5 och var i tjänst till den 14 juni 1929. Det hade då en total flygtid på 682 timmar.
Samma år överfördes flygplanet till de flyghistoriska samlingarna på Malmen.
Kuriosa:
Flygvapenmuseums SK 1 saknade länge motor. Men när den stora filmstudion i Råsunda stängde 1970 hittade man rätt sorts motor. Den hade använts som vindmaskin vid filminspelningar.

Arméflyget var organiserat så att Flygkompaniet var en del av fälttelegrafkåren. Flygkompaniet bestod av kårexpedition/Stab, flygskola, jaktflygskola, övningsflygavdelning, spanarskolan, skjutskolan Hästholmen, Flygavdelningen i Boden, Tygverkstäderna ofta kallade Flygverkstäderna Malmen (FVM).

Vid Flygvapnets bildande den 1 juli 1926 ombildades Flygkompaniets tygverkstäder på Malmen till CFM - Centrala Flygverkstaden Malmslätt.
