Ursprunget till hattmakeriet Petersens Eftr. finns i företaget P. Petersen som grundades 1872 av den danske hattmakaren Peter Petersen. Företaget låg först på Stora Torget 4 men flyttade 1917 till Svartbäcksgatan 1B. I samband med flytten övertogs rörelsen av fabrikör John Larsen som då kallade sitt företag för Petersens Eftr. 1930 ombildades företaget till aktiebolag med John Larsen som verkställande direktör. 1935 övertog bröderna Tore och Erik Larsén företaget. De utökade sortimentet med herrekipering. När efterfrågan på hattar minskade under 1950-talet så minskades hattillverkningen successivt och företaget blev mer och mer en herrkonfektionsbutik. 1955 såldes företaget till AB Hjalmar Söderberg.
Gåva den 7 april 1959 från hattmakarmästare Tore Larsén, Uppsala.
