- Fragmentet tillhör runsten U942 som påträffades 11 januari 1951 i Bredgränd, Uppsala, mitt för fastighet nr 2. Stenen, som låg 1½ meter under schaktningsnivån, kom i dagen under schaktningsarbeten för en spillvattenledning mot Fyrisån. Stenen sprängdes i fyra stycken under arbetet. Ett par dagar senare påträffades ytterligare två delar. När dessa stycken passats ihop saknades endast toppen. Antagligen har den slagits bort vid schaktningen. Runstenen låg i grunden till en medeltida byggnad. Förmodligen har denna tillhört den medeltida kungsgården i Uppsala från slutet av 1200-talet eller 1300-talet, enligt landsantikvarie Nils Sundquist. Hör samman med ytterligare fem fragment, varav fyra är identifierbara: UM28602 - UM28603 samt UM28633 - UM28634.
