Mattan är vävd av återanvänt material från papperstillverkningen vid Skutskärverken. Textilierna användes vid transporter av pappersmassan inom bruket. Mattan har vävts av givarens farmor Signe Elisabeth Jakobsson, född Hyllengren i Skutskär 21 maj 1886, död 24 februari 1956. Signes far, Emil August Hyllengren (20 mars 1850 - 21 april 1920), kom ursprungligen från Höganäs i Skåne, han hade livsmedelsaffär och växthus i Skutskär. Signes mor, Stina Persdotter (3 mars 1847 - 5 september 1906), kom från Västra Emstervik i Värmland. Signe bodde i Skutskär i hela sitt liv, gifte sig med Erik Albert Jakobsson (26 februari 1880 - 1 mars 1941) som dels byggde träbåtar och dels arbetade säsongsvis på Skutskärsverken. De fick nio barn. Ett av barnen avled 6 månader gammal. Signe vävde mycket. Alla åtta barn fick varsin matta av henne när de gifte sig. Givarens föräldrar gifte sig i mars 1945, de fick en matta i lysningspresent. Fadern, Erik Jakobsson, född 3 oktober 1907, var Signes äldste son. Modern heter Greta, född Johansson 10 november 1918. Familjen bodde två år i Enköping, sedan flyttade de till Svartbäcksgatan 101 B i Uppsala. Modern bor fortfarande kvar i lägenheten. Givaren fick mattan när hon och hennes familj flyttade till en villa i Björkbacken, Järlåsa år 1970.
