Teckningen har sannolikt tillhört Nils Johan Söderberg, född 1851 i Hanebo, Hälsingland, domkyrkosyssloman i Uppsala och Hilda Maria Söderberg, född Rettig i Gävle 1851. De bodde i Domtrapphuset i Uppsala, fick flera barn, bland annat givarens far Edvard Söderberg, verksam som tjänsteman vid Sveriges riksdag. Edvard Söderberg var gift med Märta, född Schalén. Familjen bodde på Östermalm i Stockholm.
Givaren Gerda Weiss, föddes Söderberg i Stockholm den 13 november 1924. Hon arbetade som diakonissa vid Ersta. Gifte sig vid 50 års ålder med Axel Weiss. Åren 1972 - 1980 var Axel Weiss verksam som komminister i Vikers församling, Västmanland (Örebro län). Gerda bodde kvar i prästgården i Nora ända till sin död i juni 2006. Gerda Weiss hade inga syskon och ärvde många i släkten. Den konst Gerda Weiss testamenterade till Upplandsmuseet hängde i prästgårdens stora sal. Gerda Weiss tyckte att konsten skulle tillbaka till Uppsala.
