- Efter slaget vid Poltava 1709 blev 12000-15000 krigsfångar förda till Sibirien. Pastor Notman vid Västmanlands regemente grävde ner regementets nattvardskärl i jorden vid Poltava. Efter 12 års fångenskap återvände soldater hem till Sverige. Notman tog omväg om Poltava och grävde upp nattvardskärlen. År 1722 kom han hem och år 1729 överlämnades nattvardskärlen till regementet. År 1927 beslöt regeringen att de skulle deponeras till Västerås domkyrka. 1942 skulle de övergå till Västmanlands flygflotilj. Enligt regeringsbeslut 19810514 skall nattvardskärlen registreras vid Armémuseum och deponeras vid Västmanlands läns museum.
