Mössan har styv stomme av papp. Yttertyget är av ljusblått enfärgat siden, randmönstrat med ca 1,5 cm breda ränder i omväxlande satin och annan bindning. Av yttertyget återstår dock bara delar. Uppe på kullen och fram på sidostyckena är det helt bortslitet. Där ligger mellanlagret av linblånor i dagen.
Fodertyg av kattun (bomullstyg med mönstertryck). Större delen av fodret är mönstrat med ljusblå stiliserade blommor utan stjälkar och ljusblå små prickar på mörkblå botten. En mindre bit, med smalrandig botten i vitt och ljusblått med mörkblå blomma, är inskarvad fram på höger mösshalva. Det huvudsakliga tyget är möjligen en typ av s.k. blåtryck, en sorts reservagetryck där mönsterpartierna trycks med en "gröt" av okänd sammansättning som gör att de inte tar åt sig färg, beskriven i Rune Bondjers artikel "Tygtryckning i Dalarna". Mössan har snibb fram i pannan och fem svängda veck bak i varje sida.
Dragband bak av brickvävt band. Ingen kanal för dragband på insidan. Bandet ligger istället under yttertyget mitt bak och ändarna av bandet sticker ut mellan ytter- och fodertyg vid yttersta vecken.
Mössan är i mycket dåligt skick. De rester av yttertyget som finns är gulnat och bak på vänster sida fullt av små fläckar. Fodertyget är smutsigt. Även linblånorna är bortslitna på höger sidoflik.
Mössans form liknar de bindmössor som finns i Folkdräkter och bygdedräkter i hela Sverige av Arnö-Berg, Inga, sid. 213. De är från Sorunda i Sörmland, s.k. Stockholmsmössor. Deras stommar är troligen tillverkade i stort antal i någon verkstad i Stockholm kring mitten av 1800-talet. Svängda veck finns på mössor med hård pappstomme som är av ganska sent datum. Tillverkningstid och användningstid är osäker men med anledning av ovanstående uppgifter är datering av den här mössan snävt gjord.
Ägarens make var kusk på Morlanda säteri. De var bosatta på Kårehogen nära Morlanda kyrka.
Mössan förvärvades av förmedlarens farfar Axel Vincent Bildt till hembygdssamlingarna på sin gård Torebo, Morlanda. Han avled 1915.
Av hans samlingar bildades Bildtska hembygdsmuseet på Orust ca 1930.
Förmedlaren gallrade år 1993 ut bindmössa p.g.a. dess ruinerade tillstånd. Bohusläns museum ansåg att kattunen som använts till foder var av intresse. Museet erbjöds mössan som gåva.
Mössan avförd ur Bildtska hembygdsföreningens samlingar, där den hade nummer 1053.
