Jackan har burits av f ministern Carl Burenstams farbroder generalmajoren Fredrik Burenstam, såsom volontär vid "Lätta Dragonerna".
Fredrik Burenstam var från Stjärnsund i Närke. I Finska kriget, 1808-1809, var han ryttmästare och skvadronchef för en av två skvadroner ur Livgardet till Häst som skickades till Finland.
Burenstams hästgardister deltog den 14 september 1808 i slaget vid Oravais. Slaget blev en avgörande förlust för Sverige och den svenska armén tvingades snart lämna Finland.
Under hösten 1809 hade ryssarna kommit ända ner till Umeå. Burenstam deltog då i en expedition till Västerbotten för att slå dem tillbaka. Han belönades efter detta med tapperhetsmedalj.
1813 blev den svenske kronprinsen – senare Karl XIV Johan – överbefälhavare över de allierades nordarmé i Napoleonkriget. Burenstams hästgardister tjänstgjorde som Karl Johans närmsta livvakt i slagen vid Grossbeeren, Dennewitz och Leipzig.
Burenstam gjorde avgång som generalmajor 1827 och dog året därpå i Stockholm.
Jackan av 1792 års modell, bars troligen av Burenstam när han som ung var volontär vid Lätta Livdragonregementet (sedermera Livgardet till häst).
