Tryckhandgranat 09B består av tre identiska sammanskruvade delladdningar som innehåller sprängämnet pentyl istället för splitter. Utvecklingen påbörjades inom FM och FMV från år 2001 och framåt. Prototyptillverkning och realisationsstudie genomfördes vid FOI Grindsjön under ledning av Svante Karlsson. Konceptet uppfanns av Ian Kinley även om det inte patenterades.
Typen kallas ibland även Chockhandgranat och funktionen är densamma. Den splitterfria handgranaten har 3,5 sekunders fördröjning och kan byggas på med fler delladdningar beroende på vilket mål som ska slås ut. Varje delladdning innehåller 70 gram sprängämne. Version TRYCKHGR 09 är istället utrustad med RSV-laddning vilket alltså inte gäller för TRYCKHGR 09B där effekten istället är lika i alla riktningar. Till skillnad från äldre handgranater har den här modellen en säkringssprint som måste vridas innan den kan dras ur av säkerhetsskäl för att handgranaten inte ska kunna brisera av misstag.
En fördel är även att modellen är påbyggbar och därmed kan sprängverkan anpassas beroende på vilket mål som ska slås ut. Tillverkare av färdig produkt är österrikiska Rheinmetall Waffe Munitions ARGES GmbH. Handgranaten ersätter den tidigare chockhandgranat 96. Förutom intresset från Sverige utreder även Australien ett anskaffningsbehov
