01 393: Koptiskt tyg (fragment) Linne tuskaft med ripsband i ylle. Trådtäthet: Varpledd?
Tuskaft: 43 tr/ 2 cm. Rips: 11 varpgrupper/ 2 cm. Inslagsledd? 35 tr/ 2 cm omkr. 95 tr/ 2 cm.
Teknik: Fragmentet är av en vävnad i tuskaft med en rektangel och 2 band i ripsliknande teknik. I fragmentets högra kant finns en sammanhängande stad 42 cm. I nedre kanten finns en frans omkr. 7 cm , som spänts mellan tyget och en smal remsa 1,5 cm grovt förkastad. Fransen är tränsad mot tyget. 8 mm. Ovanför fransen är 2 färdiga ullgarnsinslag. 11 cm från dessa är 3 ripsband invävda, se teckningen, som finns tillsammans med föremålet. Dock är staden annorlunda. På ung. 3 cm. har vävaren lämnat 3 i st.f. 2 tr. och rispen är här arbetad över 7 tr. Nr. 1 går tvärs igenom ripsen 2, 4, 6, är tagna till en varpgrupp och 3, 5, 7, går lösa på baksidan av tyget. Mellan ripsränderna är 1 cm tuskaft 7,5 cm från ränderna är en ripsrektangel 11,5 cm: 17,5 cm. Alla trådarna har använts. Mitt på kortsidorna är linne invävt 9 inslag: 3,5 cm. Ripsrutans stadkant och tygets stadkant är kastade tillsammans, även där ripsen är vävd med linne. Grupper av grövre trådar är invävda på regelbundna avstånd. På flera ställen är stycken av vävnaden bortfallna och förslitningar och bristningar förekommer. Diagrammet till tränsningen omarbetat efter Braulik: Altägypt. Gewebe. sid 37 fig 82. 2014-05-23 Enligt forskare Maciej Szymaszek är detta troligen ett fragment av en mantel från södra Egypten. Troligen tillhör detta fragment tillsammans med VM 1392, VM 1 396 och VM 12 159 samma mantel.
2015-09-02 Forskare Maciej Szymaszek tog ett prov av ullen, ca 4 cm långt, för analys av C14 bl a.
C14 analysen daterade tyget till år 230-400 efter Kristus (95.4% sannolikhet).
