Bergslagernas Järnväg som gick mellan Göteborg och Falun och färdigställdes ca 1880, var Sveriges genom tiderna största enskilda järnvägsprojekt och sin samtids alla kategorier största enskilda svenska företag. Kostnaden motsvarade 3,7% av BNP.
Första tiden gick det bara två tåg i vardera riktningen. 1888 tog det två timmar från Trollhättan till Göteborg. Trollhättan hade till och med ett eget järnvägshotell mellan åren 1882 och ca 1955.
Bergslagernas Järnväg förstatligades och fusioneras med SJ 1947.
Redan då järnvägen anlades behövdes en brovaktare. Bernhard Pettersson var den förste eller möjligen den andre brovakten (uppgifterna varierar).
Brovaktarstugan på holmen som kallades ”Rullekulleholme” var en tjänstebostad och hade Bergslagernas järnvägs nummer 76A angivet på gaveln. Stugan fanns alltså mellan de två järnvägsbroarna på ön som idag kallas Hjulkvarnsholmen.

Realexamen 1968 och Studentexamen 1971 i Vänersborg, Efter studier i Lund (MSc) valde Sture att bli kvar i Skåne och har arbetet i flera olika typer av befattningar på Leo läkemedel, Nederman och Tetra Pak. Efter pensionering vid 60 års ålder har Sture arbetat 10 år som Senior rådgivare för bla Ernst&Young. Sture har tagit hand om familjearkivet/släktarkivet och digitaliserat detta.
