This monument is near Friedrichstadt (Jaunjelgava) on the river Düna (Daugava) in Lettland and commemorates the liberation of Kurland
from Russia . It was planned and built by the architect and lieutenant from Königsberg Hans Kiehnapfel (1884-1942), constructed by the
Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 61 and finished on 27.3.1916
