Emil Berggren född på Orust, blef efter hafva genomgått skolan å Gustafsberg biträde i handel å Trollhättan. Därifrån erhöll han plats å kanalvärkets kamrerarekontor och tjänstgjorde någon tid å kanalkontoret i Vänersborg. Snart nog efter sin ankomst hit tog han anställning hos grosshandlare E.A Wernbom.
År 1891 blef Berggren antagen till hamnfogde i Vänersborg, då han samtidigt öppnade ångbåtskontor och började bedrifva trävaruhandel. Sedan flera år tillbaka har han varit kommissionär för samtlige ångbåtar, som trafikerat Vänersborg. När kanalkontoret för ett par år sedan indrogs, antogs Berggren till stationsskrifvare vid kanalvärket.

Olof August Presto
År 1859 började Olle Presto att lära sig fotokonsten och 1860 kunde han, tillsammans med vännen Frans Pettersson, öppna Vänersborgs första fasta fotoateljé. Presto kom snart att själv överta verksamheten och öppnade ateljén i sitt hem i hörnet av Sunds- och Kyrkogatan.
Nyårsafton 1874 gifte sig Presto med Charlotta Ödman som också arbetade i ateljén som stadens första kvinnliga fasta fotograf. Makarna drev ateljén till 1888 då den övertogs av bröderna Karl och Alfred Vikner.
