Fotot är del av ett fotoalbum som tillhört byggmästare Lars Petter Sten (1853-1941), Enköping, verksam fr.o.m. 1887. Albumet har påkostad utformning och är märkt på framsidan med texten: "Byggmästaren L. P. Sten, 10/8 1900, av erkännsamma arbetare". (Se föremål EM04408). Albumet innehåller 80 st fotografier på byggnadsprojekt som L. P. Sten med sin firma utfört. Därutöver ett porträtt på honom själv samt en gruppbild.
Fotot förmodas vara taget av Enköpingsfotografen Anders Willmanson (1853-1924), då ett stort antal av albumets övriga foton identifierats i Enköpings museums glasplåtssamling efter Willmanson.
Husets byggnadsår oklart. Plåtslagare sedermera fabrikör Bror Julius Åborg (1855-1934) blev innehavare av fastigheten 1887, ref. kyrkoarkiv. Med start från december 1889, ref. Enköpings-Posten 1889-12-03, annonserar Åborg om en lägenhet på 3 rum och kök på nedre våningen vid Kyrkogatan omgående ledig att hyra. Möjligen kan den uppgiften, parad med bl.a. ett omnämnande året efter lydande "Åborgs nybygda hus vid Kyrkogatan", peka mot att huset blev uppfört 1889.
Hotell inrättades i huset 1892. Notis i E-P 1892-09-09: "Nya hotellet. Hr B. J. Åborg har inredt nedre våningen i sitt nya hus vid Kyrkogatan här i staden till hotell för resande. Lägenheten, bestående af 8 rum, bär namnet Nya hotellet."
Huset blev ombyggt och fick ändrat utseende 1918.
