Text till bilderna VMGDIG00231-067- VMGDIG00231-069: "Sommaren 1958 inskränkte sig till ett par veckor i början av juli. Då var det varmt och soligt och ett utmärkt bärgningsväder för höet. Kvaliten på grödan blev också fin. Sista lasset åkte in den 17 och därmed var det också slut på sommarvädret".

Stig Olsson:
Stig Olsson (1930 – 1998) var en hängiven amatörfotograf från Vänersborg. Tillsammans med sina bröder Arne och Bertil växte han upp på gården Härstad i Västra Tunhem. Efter folkskolan fick Stig 1945 anställning som verkstadsmontör vid Televerkstaden i Vänersborg. Avsaknad av barnomsorg var en stor anledning till att Stig omkring 1970 bytte yrkesbana och blev väktare. Det nya arbetets nattarbetstider passade bättre till familjens behov och han stannade i yrket ända fram till sin pensionering. Stig hade ett stort intresse för natur och friluftsliv och var under några år aktiv i Vänersborgs skidklubb.
I slutet av 1950-talet började Stig att fotografera. Han blev medlem i Vänersborgs fotoklubb och klubben skulle komma att bli navet för Stigs framtida fotograferande. Stig dokumenterade i första hand sin omgivning. Naturen på Halle och Hunneberg, dottern Kerstins uppväxt och miljöer från Vänersborg var typiska val av motiv. Han gjorde även naturresor inom Sverige, där Kilsbergen i Närke var en återkommande favoritplats. Stig fotograferade mest i svartvitt mellanformat och framkallade de flesta av sina bilder själv.
Stigs stora intresse för miljöer och till viss del även besvikelse över 1960 och 70-talens ovarsamma stadsplanering, resulterade i att han under nästan 40-års tid dokumenterade Vänersborgs stadsbyggelse. Med stor noggrannhet följde han kungörelserna i tidningen ELA för att sedan – oftast med cykel – bege sig till det snart rivna eller renoverade byggnadsverket.
Många av Stigs bilder blev publicerade i böcker och almanackor som gavs ut av Vänersborgs fotoklubb. Stig utförde även fotouppdrag åt bland annat Västra Tunhems hembygdsförening och Vänersborgs söners gille. Han deltog också i tävlingar och utställningar och var 1978 representerad i den nordiska vandringsutställningen ”Nordens barn i 70-talets samhälle”.
Ett fotografi som Stig beundrade mycket var ”The walk to paradise garden” av Eugene Smith från 1946. En annan inspirationskälla var fotografierna från Ateljé K & A Vikner.
1981 tilldelades Stig förtjänsttecken i guld av Riksförbundet Svensk Fotografi, ”för gagnerikt arbete för fotografien”.
