Enskilt arkiv 252 emanerar från den i Linköping så framgångsrike köpmannen Axel Karlsson (1852-1915). Bördig från Åtvidaberg inflyttade han till Linköping 1874 för en anställning vid firman Andersson & Beckman. År 1877 öppnade han en egen kläd- och specieraffär vid Platensgatan. Efter tio år på Platensgatan flyttade firman till Holmbergska gården på adressen Storgatan 39. Därefter följde en specialisering på konfektionsvaror och expansion med filialer samt eget skrädderi. Axel Karlsson var gift med Hedvig Düring, dotter till Linköpings första, fasta fotograf, Frans Dyring och dennes maka Johanna Carolina Sandberg.
