Under 1800-talet var det inte ovanligt att jakten och zoologin kunde förenas i en och samma person. Den brittiske adelsmannen Llewellyn Lloyd blev en legend i vänerlandskapen redan under sin livstid. Bland allmogen var han känd som björnjägare, sportfiskare, kvinnokarl och excentrisk äventyrare. För läsarna av hans böcker i England och Sverige framträdde bilden av zoologen, landskapsskildraren och upptäckaren.
Utställningen visade, genom en rik mängd föremål, såväl den svenska allmogejakten under 1800-talet liksom Llewellyn Lloyds fascinerande livsöde och framstående forskningsarbete. Som grundläggare av en zoologisk forskartradition fick Llewellyn Lloyds arbeten en avgörande betydelse för tillkomsten av Vänersborgs museum och dess naturhistoriska samlingar.
