Kjolen är del av en uniform m/1942 för Sveriges Kvinnliga Bilkårers Riksförbund, en av tre uniformer som har tillhört två kvinnor i samma familj. Den hör ihop med jackan AM.092580 och har troligen tillhört Kaja Nyberg.
Kaja Nyberg verkade i bilkåren i många år och hennes dotter Britt von Braun ärvde moderns engagemang och var också medlem i kåren. Det är lite svårt att veta vilken av uniformerna som tillhört vem. Kaja hade styrelseuppdrag, men Britt var inte lika engagerad. Britt var även till en början aktiv i Röda/Blå stjärnan pga sitt hund- och hästintresse.
Kaja Nyberg var gift med Johannes ”Janne” Nyberg (1886-1933-07-31), Major vid Livgrenadjärregementet.
Dottern Britt var gift med Baltzar von Braun (1914-08-29 – 1993-05-30), ryttmästare.
Uniformerna visar på kvinnors roll i försvarshistorien och visar också på hur engagemang i försvarsfrågor kan genomsyra en hel familj.
Bilkåren är en frivillig försvarsorganisation som bildades under andra världskriget. Fram till 2009 var föreningen endast öppen för kvinnor. Under andra världskriget körde kvinnorna inom föreningen både ambulanser och andra viktiga transporter för att bistå försvaret. Bilkåren hade en betydande roll i försvaret men också för kvinnors frigörelse då bilkörning tidigare varit en manligt präglad uppgift. Bilkåren är fortfarande aktiv idag och har som uppdrag att rekrytera och utbilda fordonsförare till totalförsvaret.
