Inga-Marie Johnsson (född Österström), född 28.6.1916, var givaren Andersson Johnssons mamma och pappan var Gösta Johnsson född 14.5.1912. Givaren har ärvt tavlan av sina föräldrar. Fadern var släkt med Olof Thunman genom modern Nanna Gauffin. Olof Thunmans mamma var Eva Gauffin, enligt givaren inte helt säkert hur släktskapet såg ut. Föräldrarna studerade i Uppsala på 30-talet där de också träffades. Tavlan var en födelsedagspresent från givarens pappa till modern. Gösta Johnsson köpte tavlan i juni 1939 direkt från Olof Thunman. Enligt givaren umgicks föräldrarna en hel del under studenttiden i Uppsala med Thunman. Andra världskrigets början gjorde att föräldrarna inte gifte sig förrän 1944. Under den tiden levde de där de kunde få anställning: Gösta i Gävle och Kickan (Inga-Maries smeknamn) i Stockholm. Båda var lärare. Tavlan följde med modern under de åren. Därefter har tavlan varit med dem tillsammans till många olika hem och alltid haft en plats i vardagsrummet. Vardagsrummen fanns i Sverige, Etiopien, Sverige igen, Tanzania och slutligen Sverige.
Inskriptionen på tavlans baksida lyder ”Födelsedagsgåva från Gösta (till)/överstruket) på Inga-Maries födelsedag den 28. 6. 1939” Tavlan som skänkts till Upplandsmuseet föreställer dramatiska bränningar mot en klippstrand med havet och den bakomliggande horisonten i fonden. Storleken är 70 x 50 cm liggande. Tekniken är tuschteckning och lavering.
