- Grängesbergs bryggeri etablerades 1897, med ett fokus på att tillverka pilsner. 1923 köpte affärsidkaren Louis Spendrup bryggeriet, som vid tiden hade en stadig tillverkning om 600–700 flaskor öl dagligen. Företaget växte till att 1950 omfatta 15 anställda och en årlig produktion om 300,000 liter öl. 1900-talets andra hälft såg en stor nedgång för svenska bryggerier, där Grängesberg var ett sällsynt undantag. Från att ha varit ett av landets minsta bryggerier i slutet av 1960-talet var de plötsligt bokförda som Sveriges tredje största ölproducent 1980. 1982 bytte företaget namn från Grängesbergs bryggeri AB till Spendrups bryggeri AB. Under 1900-talets andra hälft har företaget även knutit många andra bryggerier och kända varumärken till sig, där tillverkningen i Grängesberg fortfarande idag är bland de mest centrala. I Dalarna tillverkas förutom Gränges även kända varumärken som Mariestad och Norrlands guld. Bara i Grängesberg bryggdes drygt en miljon liter öl per dag under 2018, med en variation på upp till 70 olika ölsorter under hela året.
