Helautomatisk kustartilleripjäs som är en vidareutveckling av svenska arméns haubits 77. Kanonen, som benämns kustartilleripjäs 9501, skiljer sig från haubits avseende eldröret, den automatiska riktningen samt laddningssystemet. Kalibern är 12 cm, vilket är något mindre än haubitsversionen. Kustartilleripjäs 9501 ingick i kustartilleribataljon. Det fanns tre bataljoner organiserade inom marinen från 1982 till 2000 då kustartilleriets avvecklades. Varje bataljon hade två kustartilleribatterier med fyra pjäser vardera. Utbildning skedde huvudsakligen vid KA2 men även vid KA1. Pjäsen drogs av en lastterrängbil 40. Eldledning skedde från batteriets egna mätstationer ARTE 727 och ARTE 734. Kanonen kunde grupperas på tre minuter i dagsljus och tio minuter i mörker.
I pjäsen sitter en motor typ Volvo B20 som gör att pjäsen är självgående efter att den har kopplats loss från dragbilen. Den kör således själv in den sista biten på grupperingsplatsen.
Pjäsen benämns allmänt som 12/80-pjäs eller som KARIN vilket var en förkortning för kustartilleriets rörliga invasionsförsvar.
