Beagle B 125 Bulldog är ett enmotorigt propellerflygplan som utvecklades av det brittiska företaget Beagle Aviation och serietillverkades av Scottish Aviation, också brittiskt.
Flygvapnet behövde ett nytt skolflygplan som skulle ersätta SK 50 i den grundläggande flygutbildningen. Efter utvärdering av olika alternativ föll valet på Beagle B 125 Bulldog. Försvarsmakten lade en order på sammanlagt 78 flygplan som blev levererade under åren 1971 till 1974. Av dessa skulle flygvapnet få 58 stycken och armén 20 stycken. I flygvapnet fick Bulldog beteckningarna SK 61A och SK 61B. De flygplan som kom till armén fick beteckningen FPL 61C. Efter 1987 hade flygvapnet inte längre behov av SK 61 som skolflygplan. Det var då som flygeleverna började få den grundläggande flygutbildningen direkt på jetflygplan - SK 60.
SK 61A fanns i femtiotvå exemplar i flygvapnet. Det var ett standardskolflygplan med plats för tre personer. Lärare och elev satt sida vid sida och i baksätet fanns plats för en passagerare.
SK 61B fanns i sex exemplar i flygvapnet och hade plats för tre personer. Flygplanet kunde också bära en robot, RB 53, monterad på högra vingspetsen. Viggenpiloter övade med SK 61B för att lära sig hantera robotvapnet.
SK 61C fanns i femton exemplar i flygvapnet. År 1989 blev de överförda från armén där de hade haft beteckningen FPL 61.
SK 61D och E var ett antal SK 61A som blev utrustade med instrumentering för civil pilotutbildning.
Denna SK 61A blev levererad till flygvapnet 1971 och baserad på Krigsflygskolan F 5 i Ljungbyhed. År 2001 gallrade flygvapnet ut flygplanstypen och det här exemplaret blir överfört till Flygvapenmuseum.
Kuriosa:
Med SK 61A och B slutade flygvapnet att måla skolflygplanen gula. Dessa blev istället målade i enfärgat grönt eftersom alla flygplan skulle kunna användas i krig.
