Bonaden är målad 1824 av Sven Nilsson, även kallad Trane-Sven, från Härnäs i Blekinge som tillhör den s k Blekingegruppen.
Sven Nilsson, 1800-1861, föddes i Hovmansbygd, Asarum socken numera Ringmåla socken i Blekinge. Så småningom flyttade han till Trantorpet i Härnäs där han var verksam som lärare och som bonads- och kistmålare. Hans produktionstid varade mellan 1824-1853 och 25 stycken bonader är kända varav sex stycken är signerade antingen S.N.S eller S.Nilsson eller med hela namnet utskrivet. Hans bonader var vanligen på tuskaftad linneväv eller gammal drättaduk men även på papper förekommer. Hans stil anses lik Allbo-Kinnevalsgruppen och då särskilt Magnus Jönssons stil. I Sven Nilssons äldre bonader dominerade rosa och dovt blått vilket kan betyda att han använt indigo (Nyström 2012:76), medan han i de senare använts mer klart ljusblått till gråblått. Rosa och blått har tillhört den blekingska textiltraditionen och Sven Nilsson var även mönstertecknare som hans hustru Inga Persdotter sedan sydde upp till avsalu (Kjerström-Sjölin, 1971:56). Figurerna i hans bonadsmålerier har karaktäristiska tunna, distinkta konturer i ljusbrun färg och ansiktena är runda med rosor på kinderna, stirrande ögon och ena näsroten hopbunden med det ena ögonbrynet. Bakgrunden emellan figurerna är ofta stämplade prickar.
