- Första svenska adventskalendern gavs ut 1934 av Sveriges Flickors Scoutförbund, med tysk förebild. Syftet var att genom försäljningen samla medel till flickscoutrörelsen. Kalendern fyllde även en funktion att för barnen underlätta väntan på julen. 1957 sändes den första adventskalendern i Sveriges Radio och 1960 den första tv-sändningen. Namnet ändrades under 1960-talet till julkalendern.
