- Författaren och journalisten Jan Mellhed (1921-1999) donerade 1999 genom testamentarisk gåva sitt kompletta hem till Länsmuseet Varberg. Mellhed är mest känd som skildrare av snapphanekrigen i Halland och Skåne, men har även skrivit tusentals artiklar om historia och litteratur. Hans studier i södra Hallands lokalhistoria resulterade i Riksförbundet för hembygdsvårds guldplakett. Han byggde upp ett arkiv för sina historiska skrifter, specialintressen var snapphanar, folklig läkekonst, folkvisor, sägner och lokala personligheter. Mellhed hade även ett omfattande lokalhistoriskt bibliotek. Se Inv.nr. 011727. Mellhed samlade egentligen inte på föremål. De sparade föremålen i donationen består av en mängd snidade träfigurer samt i ett hem vanligt förekommande bruksföremål, sammanlagt cirka 400 stycken.
