”Denna förhållningsbok har tillhört min Pappa, Birger Andersson.
Pappa föddes 10/1 1925 i Ransberg i Skaraborgs län. Efter ett par flyttningar kom han till Karlsborg där farfar arrenderade gården Haraldsgården i Mölltorps kommun. Denna gård ligger någon km söder om F6 och vissa delar av gårdens marker gränsar till flygfältet.
Efter realexamen kom han till F6 som volontär i slutet av 1942. Han gick sedan flygsignalistutbildning, vilken var förlagd till Västerås. Min gissning är att han fick sina ”signalistvingar” efter denna kurs. När den var avslutad vet jag inte, men jag gissar att det har varit under andra halvan av 1943. Detta var då under den period då F6 ombeväpnade från B5 till B17. Pappa har aldrig pratat om att han flugit B5 så om han gjort det har det varit en kort period innan bytet till B17. Sedan flög han B17.
När F6 1947 ombeväpnade till den ensitsigas A21 fanns det inte längre plats för flygsignalister, och pappa övergick till marktjänstgöring. Han lämnade flygvapnet 1951 och blev radiotelegrafist i handelsflottan, där han med undantag av några få år på 60-talet stannade till sin pensionering.”
