Enligt L Borgström hittades denna och VM 2849 sommaren 1845 och lämnades in till Carlstads museum. Borgströms text är : "Sommaren 1845 träffades i Nors S:n 2 Skyttelformiga stenar, af Nilsson antagna för Brynstenar, och blevo inlemnade till Carlstads Museum". Borgströms text följer under en rubrik som beskriver gravhögar vid Lillnor vilket kan innebära att eldslagningsstenarna påträffades där. Det är dock något osäkert eftersom Borgström inte skriver det uttryckligen.
Att denna och VM 2849 är de föremål som Borgström omnämner är klarlagt. Framför allt på grund av Borgströms beksrivning, men också genom N.G Djurklous beskrivning. Av museets gamla inventarieförteckning framgår att det 1873 fanns 6 eldslagningsstenar i samlingarna. En av dessa var trasig och en kom från Lungsund. Djurklou skriver att det 1867 fanns två eldslagningsstenar i museets samlingar och han beskriver dem som spetsiga och ovala av röd skiffer. Den ena av dem har han dessutom ritat av. VM 2849 och VM 696 är de enda som passar in på den beskrivningen av de som fanns i samlingarna 1873.
