Tekniska AB Svea grundades år 1899 av flera stora företagare i Gävle, bl.a. konsul Oscar Flemming, fabrikören Gustaf Adolf Sjöström, grosshandlare J. A. Westergren och bryggaren Wadman. Fabriken uppfördes på Ruddammsgatan 15 i centrala Gävle. Tekniska AB Swea sålde sina varor i norra och mellersta Sverige. Som mest producerades ett hundratal artiklar.
År 1912 köpte Lars Westerberg företaget. Han hade redan en kemisk-teknisk fabrik, grundad 1876, som låg på Nygatan 10. Tekniska AB Svea flyttade till hans lokaler. Han sålde vidare företaget år 1920 till importaktiebolaget Carl Ohlin.
År 1926 flyttade Svea till en annan lokal på Södra Skeppsbron 20 i Gävle och i samband med detta införlivades Sasol AB, grundat av Birger Fogelberg, som var chef i Tekniska AB Flora, och doktor H. Cederberg. Företaget existerade 1913-1926. Man skulle producera tekniska och farmaceutiska artiklar och hade sina lokaler i Hagaström utanför Gävle. Den främsta produkten var ett desinfektionsmedel, Sasol.
Efter flera ägarbyten ägdes både Svea och Sasol under 1980-talet av företaget Gävle Industritjänst. Det är oklart vad som hände företaget vare sig efter 1980-talet. År 1979 dokumenterade Länsmuseet Sveas lokaler med en mängd bilder inför rivningen av deras produktionsbyggnad på Södra Skeppsbron i Gävle. Gävle Stadsarkiv har Tekniska AB Sveas övriga arkivhandlingar.
