HALLANDS KULTURHISTORISKA MUSEUM 100 ÅR
Idag har Hallands kulturhistoriska museum ca 120 000 föremål i sina samlingar som vi ska förvalta för eftervärlden. Endast någon procent ställs ut i museets utställningar, därför arbetar vi med att tillgängliggöra föremålsamlingarna på Internet, Digitalt Museum, Facebook och Instagram.
Norra Hallands Kulturhistoriska förening grundades 1916 och det är föremålen från föreningens insamling som utgör grunden i museets samlingar. I den här mappen kan ni se ett urval av de första föremålen som kom in till våra samlingar 1916 och åren efter.
Några av de mest drivande var doktor J S Almer (kustsanatoriet Apelvikens grundare), provinsialläkare Erik Uddenberg samt möbelhandlare C J Carlsson. Grunden till samlingarna kom från ett stort inköp efter riksdagsman Alfred Bexell, en privatsamlare som länge samlat kulturhistoriska objekt från Halland. Målet var att skapa ett hembygdsmuseum och det första museet inhystes i mellersta valvet på Varbergs fästning.
Samlingen med föremål byggdes på med fler föremålsförvärv från flera stora samlare, bl.a. August Bondeson och Hjalmar Magnusson.
1919 fick verksamheten bidrag från både kommun och landsting och två år senare kunde man anställa en intendent för att sköta samlingarna – journalisten och hembygdsforskaren Albert Sandklef. Sandklef blev den som formade den tidiga insamlingen och man samlade in både föremål och arkivhandlingar med anknytning till Halland. Bockstensmannen som hittades 1936 och Kulknappen, den kula som sägs dödat Karl XII är två av de mest kända fynden.
