Marindir. G. Halldin lämnar följande uppgifter: "82-kanonsk. Carolus XI byggdes på Skeppsholmen i Stockholm 1677-79 av skeppsbyggmästaren Robert Turner. Längden var 49,3 m, bredden 11,9 m och djupgåendet 5,94m. Besättningen utgjorde 620 man. Skeppet deltog i 1679 års sjötåg såsom amiralsskepp samt i sjötågen 1700 och 1710.
Det kallades den 4 maj 1678 (sjösättningsdagen) Carolus XI, den 30 maj 1683 Sverige, den 26 augusti 1684 Wenden. den 30 september 1694 Prins Carl och den 21 oktober 1694 åter Sverige.
Det utrangerades 1733, sedan det legat sjunket i flera år invid norra sidan av Lindholmen på örlogsvaret i Karlskrona. Över skeppet byggdes en kaj, "ballastkajen", som fick sitt namn av den ballast, som där upplades, då fartyg dockade i den närliggande dockan. Ornamentet på akterspegeln, som höggs 1678 av bildhuggaren Henrik Schüts, och framställer Karl XI till häst i naturlig storlek, är bevarat och finnes numera på Sjöhistoriska museét i Stockholm. Skeppet ballastades med 1000 skeppund järnmalm från Utö gruva. Det hade i kajutan 2 dussin stolar klädda med juftläder.
Vid slipbyggnad på Lindholmen 1941 spolierades till större delen vad som fanns kvar av det där sjunkna skeppet, med tillvaratogs i största möjliga utsträckning rester av spant, vägare, bordläggningsplankor o dyl."
Nåten drevna med hampdrev och fyllda med skeppsbeck av timmerman Olof Ohlsson år 1960.
Skeppssidan vikt = 4.5 ton.
Sverige var amiral Hans Wachtmeisters skepp, då han första gången besökte Karlskrona vid standens grundläggande år 1679.
