Norsk maskinist som tok tjeneste i Fristaten Kongo for La Societé Anonyme Belge pour le Commerce du Haut-Congo (SAB) fra 6. mai 1893. Han reiste syk hjem 15. november 1893. I følge Jenssen-Tusch er Berg en norsk maskinist, mens i koloniarkivet er han oppført som svensk. Ifølge svenske lister hos Persson og Tell så må det være tale om to forskjellige personer: den norske Berg, J. og Berg, Carl Johan Andersson f. 12. desember 1873 og som arbeidet fem perioder i Kongo fra 1900 til 1915.
