Pipfabriken "Skapi" i Uddevalla.
I bottenplanet till Tjärhovsgatan 1 startade 1936 den från Tyskland flyende Max Schwab pipfabriken Skapi. Tillverkningen växte snabbt och 1941 flyttade man över till den södra halvan av byggnaden vid Packhusgatan.
Med piprökarnas hjälp kunde Skapi redan 1946 bygga en egen fabriksfastighet där tillverkningen fortgicks till 1970.
Mellan 1970 - 1975 var verksamheten förlagd till Kampenhov sedan fastigheten försålts till Mattssonföretagen, som numera har sina kontor här. Schwab var en mycket omtyckt företagsledare som månade om sina 60-tal anställda med femdagarsvecka, semesterpengar och julklappar berättar Gustav "Nalle" Höglund som var med allt från starten. Schwab avled redan vid 47 års ålder.
