Bröderna AXEL Theodor Lindahl (1841 – 1906), född i Mariestad, Uno FRITIOF Lindahl (f. 1844) och ROBERT Lindahl (1853 – 1919)) var samtliga fotografer. Modern kom från Bohuslän. Bröderna arbetade tillsammans i olika konstellationer genom åren.
Axel Theodor Lindahl flyttar till Uddevalla 1864 och slår sig ihop med brodern Frithiof.
Tillsammans öppnar de ateljé 1865 på Södra Drottninggatan 7. ”Atelier A & F. Lindahl i Uddevalla”. Fotografier från denna period är stämplade "Fotografi af A & F. LINDAHL i Uddevalla".
Brodern Frithiof flyttar till Göteborg 1866. Han är senare verksam som fotograf i Mariestad.
1868 slår sig Axel ihop med sin andre broder, Robert Lindahl.
1873 etablerar Axel Lindahl också en fotoateljé i Göteborg under namnet ”A. Lindahl Fotografiska Atelier Göteborg Alleen vid Nya Teatern och Uddevalla” men behåller ateljén i Uddevalla.
1875 flyttade Axel Lindahl till Göteborg. Det är möjligen nu som fotografierna stämplas "A. LINDAHL GÖTEBORG OCH UDDEVALLA".
Brodern Robert Lindahl driver Uddevallafilialen men övertar den så småningom i eget namn och driver den mellan 1879 – 1888. Han är sedan verksam som fotograf i Torps socken på Orust 1889 – 1890 och i Ljungskile 1891 – 1911.
1881 flyttar Axel Lindahl till Södertälje där han också etablerar en affär och ateljé.
En del af affären i Södertälje säljs 1883 till Wahlström & Widstrand i Stockholm under firma Axel Lindahls fotografiaffär, Stockholm, Riddargatan. Han etableras som Kungl. Hovleverantör 1884.
Axel Lindahl avlider i Södertälje 1906.
Axel Theodor Lindahl blev en av Sveriges främsta resande vyfotografer. Han fotograferade också mycket på många resor i Norge. Han gjorde stora serier med stereofotografier över Sverige och Norge och deltog i flera internationella utställningar. Han hade ett omfattande försäljningsnät över landet.
Landskapsbilderna användes i svenska och norska resehandledningar, turistbrochyrer och som ljusbilder.
En utställning med Axel Lindahls fotografier visades på Bohusläns museum
