Pontus Paulsson (1875-1958), född i Svanskog, Värmland, hade tänkt bli tänkt bli snickare, då han tyckte mycket om doften av trä, men kom istället att bli skräddare. Han började sin utbildning i Årjäng när han trol. var omkring 15-16 år,(som lärling) och fortsatte sedan i Stockholm. 1897 utförde han sitt gesällprov, vilket han fick Hantverksföreningens i Stockholm Lilla silvermedaljen för. Under 12 år vistades han sedan utomlands för vidare studier och arbete. Han vistades i Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, London (i 5 år där han bl.a. lärde sig tillskärning för både dam och herrkläder), Paris och New York. Han kom tillbaka strax innan 1:a världskriget.
Tillbaka i Sverige slog han sig ned i Stockholm och arbetade som skräddare och öppnade snart eget skrädderi. Hans firma låg på olika adresser på Östermalm mellan mitten av 1910-talet till mitten av 1950-talet. och han var verksam långt efter pensionsåldern. Han hade ca 2-3 anställda och ibland lärlingar och elever. Hans kundkrets var de mer förmögna på Östermalm, och det var viktigt att bo nära kunderna. Han sydde både dam- och herrkläder. Under sina verksamma år så hade Paulsson alltid sitt skrädderi i samma lägenhet som man bodde i. Det största och ljusaste rummet valdes alltid till ateljé.
