Krokodilerna kommer från den antika egyptiska staden El-Maabdeh som var platsen för en av de äldsta krokodilnekropolerna i det forntida Egypten. På Nilens östra sida, uppe på en platå, låg gravplatsen som även innehöll mumier av människor. El-Maabdeh upptäcktes officiellt (?) 1873 av den italienska zoologen Paolo Panceri.
Nekropolen lär ha innehållet ett oräkneligt antal krokodilmumier, tätt packade på varandra. De mumifierade krokodilerna offrades till krokodilguden Sobek.
Det moderna namet på El-Maabdeh är Manfaloot/Manfalut.
Dessa båda mumier av krokodilungar var de båda första föremålen av museets samlingar som överflyttades till Bohusläns musei nybyggda hus vid Norra Hamnen då överflyttningen påbörjades i november 1983.
David Macfie, Edinburgh (Mr Johnstone David Macfie, 1828-1915); en släkting i den till Uddevalla under 1840-talet inflyttade familjen Macfie. Klan Macfie fick bl.a. sina inkomster genom import av sockerrör från Västindien med efterföljande raffinering i Skottland.
En gren av familjen var sysselsatta med samma verksamhet i England, jfr Mr Robert Marquis, Liverpool. Sugerboiling kallas verksamheten på engelska; sockerraffinaderi på svenska.
