Radbandet kommer från Solovkij kloster på Solovetskijöarna i Vita havet, Ryssland.
Det är hemfört av adjunkt Teodor Björnberg (död 1886 vid 44 års ålder), Uddevalla år 1874. Området har varit kulturellt och religiöst betydelsefullt i det ryska tsardömet sedan sekler tillbaks. Under första hälften av 1400-talet grundades på Solovetskijöarna ett av Rysslands största kloster, vilket snart blev ett ekonomiskt, politiskt och militärt centrum för Vitahavsområdet. Efter ryska revolutionen blev det sovjetiskt fångläger. Numera har munkarna återvänt, och sedan år 1992 är Solovetskijöarna ett av våra världsarv.

En ögrupp i Vita havet, Ryska federationen; 347 km2. S., som ligger vid mynningen av Onegabukten, består av tre större öar (Solovetskij, Bolsjoj Muksalma och Anzerskij) samt tre mindre, i huvudsak uppbyggda av granit och gnejs. Den av skogs- och våtmark dominerade terrängen är rik på sjöar och vattensamlingar. Öarna är i dag ett kultur- och naturhistoriskt reservat.
Under första hälften av 1400-talet grundades på S. ett av Rysslands största kloster, vilket snart blev ett ekonomiskt, politiskt och militärt centrum för Vitahavsområdet. Klostret konfiskerades 1923 av sovjetstaten och omvandlades till tvångsarbetsläger. Det återlämnades till kyrkan 1991.
