I november 1945 startar Arnold Wiig Syco Keramik på Torskholmen i Strömstad. Under de första åren tillverkades bara "Krukan som andas" [*]. Den blev från början Sycos signum och gjordes i många olika storlekar och modeller. Från 1949 utökades sortimentet, nu tillverkades även prydnadsföremål och brukskeramik, samt en del leksaker i plåt.
1961 går Syco i konkurs, konkursboet köps då upp av Åke Jaking (tidigare Johansson) och driften fortsätter därefter under namnet Nya Syco. Under Åkes tid gick fabriken bra, de hade ca 1000 olika modeller i sitt produktprogram och sålde en stor del av det de producerade på export, bland annat till Tyskland och England.
Strömstads kommun ägde fabriken och företaget Original Odhner ville åt marken där Syco låg. Lokalerna hade blivit för små för att kunna expandera, därför börjar Åke Jaking att bygga en ny fabrik, en fabrik som skulle bli den modernaste i hela Europa. Emellertid uppstår problem med bygget då marken måste pålas mycket mer än beräknat. Bygget blir försenat och produktionen står still. Jaking sliter dag och natt för att lösa problemen, trots att han är sjuklig. Men resultatet blir att personalen måste permitteras, vilket i sin tur leder till att kunderna inte får sina beställningar och likviditeten rinner därmed ur företaget.
Den 1 januari 1968 säljer Åke Jaking fabriken till Åke Orrvik. Orrvik klarar inte sina ekonomiska åtaganden gentemot Åke Jaking och under stor vånda tvingas Jaking att 1969 begära Nya Syco i konkurs. Allt säljs på auktion.

* Gjutna blomkrukor av korallkalksten och cement var keramikfabrikens stora 1940-talsprodukt. Kalkstenen importerades från Danmark. Bland annat gjorde Statens Järnvägar en stor beställning på en större fristående modell avsedd för blomsterarrangemang utanför stationerna.
På Syco AB tillverkades servis- och prydnadsgods mellan åren 1946 - 1968. De sista sju åren drevs fabriken under namnet Nya Syco AB. Ledare för företaget då var Åke Johansson, sedemera Jaking, Strömstad/Trollhättan. (Intervjunr 361 i museets arkiv.)
Företagets namn kom troligen från den danska firman Syberg Olsen & Co, vilka hade ursprungspatent till den blandning som de populära Syco-blomkrukorna gjordes av.
