- History
Alban Edvard Thorburn född 1862, död 1933, konsul och grosshandlare i Uddevalla. Han hade anställningar i Antwerpen och Rochester och i firma James Dickson & Co i Göteborg. I Uddevalla startade han bl.a. oljeslageriet vid Badö. 1889 blev han direktör för familjeföretaget Will. Thorburns Söner. Han tillhörde stadsfullmäktige 1903-1916. Alban Thorburn var en god kännare av gamla Uddevalla och Bohuslän och friluftsman var intresserad av att fotografera. Han var också engagerad curlingspelare. Han gjorde bl.a. en cykeltur med en höghjuling genom hela Europa till Italien på 1880-talet.
Alban Thorburn bodde runt sekelskiftet 1900 på Margretelund i Uddevalla, sålde tomter till ett antal personer som byggde stora hus längs Lagerbergsgatan. Byggde därefter villa Solhagen mellan Kasen och Sörvik, Uddevalla där han bodde till sin död.
Son till Robert Thorburn (1828 - 1896) och Alma Jacobi (1833 – 1882).
