DIDRIKSONS 1913 Grundsund SWEDEN
In 1913. Julius and Hanna Didrikson started up the manufacturing of oil treated garments in Grundsund, Sweden. Here, on the rim of the western coastline, where Sweden meets the Atlantic, threre was a constant need from the vivid local fishing industry. To continuously improve the product, it was important to be close to those who wore it, since feedback was almost immediate.
Through the years, many historical milestones were passed, like oil treatment being replaced by rubber materials in 1930. The greatest breakthrough was in 1947 when the welding machine was invented that had the capability of making the garment fully waterproof. The first polyurethane materials were developed in 1981, and this boosted sales to the general public. Around the same time, the development of brethable, yet waterproof, textiles started to revolutionize the market.
Didriksons is still in the breech of functional clothing. Customers of totay can be hunters, golfers, fishermen or just anyone with an active outdoor lifestile. In the world today and tomorrow, functionality and versatility has no boundaries.
