Popgruppen Lucas bildades 1965 i Göteborg av pianisten Janne Lucas Persson. Bandets övriga medlemmar bestod av Tony Ribbås på gitarr, Anders Björkman på bas och Ulf Caresten på trummor. 1967 kom gruppens stora genombrott när de vann tävlingen Sveriges Radios popband och Nalens popbandtävling. Låten ”Go now” låg på Tio i topp och Kvällstoppen i elva veckor. 1967 var Lucas förband åt både Rolling Stones på Idrottens hus i Helsingborg och åt Jimi Hendrix på Lisebergs konserthall.
Lucas turnerade i Sverige, skrev ytterligare låtar och medverkade i TV innan de splittrades 1969. Endast Janne Lucas Persson fortsatte och gjorde en solokarriär som musiker medan övriga medlemmar satsade inom andra yrken.
