Tureborg, branden 1950.
För 50 år sedan
"Något rivningsarbete behövde aldrig påbörjas på Tureborg, framlidne redaktiör Ture Malmgrens stora och stolta byggnadsskapelse. Med dunder och brak störtade nämligen i går kväll brädväggarna samman och lågorna slickade girigt utmed torn och vindar.
Efter några timmar återstod blott murar och torn som minne av det, som en gång varit en mans livsverk. Brandkåren, som alarmerats, kunde naturligtvis inget göra för att begränsa elden, utan fick helt inrikta sig på att bevaka skogen, som vid ett par tillfällen hotades. Den södra ytterväggen störtade nämligen utåt, men genom ett raskt ingripande hindrades skogseld.
Borgen var försäkrad för cirka 1.000 kronor och trävirket skulle man börja riva denna vecka. Det blev en präktig brasa av den gamla borgen och åtskilligt med folk samlades efter hand på kullarna i närheten för att bevittna det hemska men fantastiska skådespelet.
Hur elden uppstått kommer kanske aldrig att kunna utredas. På kriminalen lutar man dock åt den uppfattningen att det är några småpojkar som handskats vårdslöst med eld.
Poliskonstaplarna Algot Scherman och Erik Johansson patrullerade per bil i staden, då de iakttog "något konstigt" på himlen upp mot Garvaremyrsvägen. Då de kommit närmare anropades de per radio, att Tureborg stod i brand och det var endast att ge sig upp i bergen. "(27 november 1950)
