Modellfotografier Magna klädkollektion 1951-1952.
Ella Mabäcker arbetade i början av 1950-talet i klädbutiken Textil som låg i en källarlokal på Hamngatan, Uddevalla. Butiken ägdes av Carl Molin vars son, Hugo Molin innehade Arbetarboden. Han frågade Ella om hon kunde ställa upp som modell för fotografering av Magnas plagg. Ella tyckte det var roligt och svarade ja. Fotograferingen skedde i en ateljé i Uddevalla. Hon minns ej om hon fick något betalt.
Hon gick också modell för Magnas nya kollektioner när visning för "resande" skedde på Carlia. Ella har fortsatt att vara modell för kläder även på äldre dagar.

Birgitta Frost-Nyström arbetade på konfektionsfabriken Magna i 17,5 år. Hon började vid 26 års ålder 1970. Hon kom från södra Halland och såg en annons i GP (Göteborgs-Posten) där företaget sökte en kombinerad direktris/konstruktris/gradös. Hon sökte tjänsten och fick den. Vid den här tiden var Hugo Molin, som startat firman 1948, chef. På kontoret arbetade chefsdesignern Kristina Willstrand. Hon hade arbetat i företaget i flera år och det var hon tillsammans med Hugo Molin som "var Magna" enligt Birgitta. Birgitta arbetade på modellavdelningen. Där arbetade ytterligare en direktris samt modellsömmerskor och en tillskärerska som skar/klippte ut provplaggen. Vid den här tidpunkten arbetade 120 personer i företaget.
1973 sålde Molin företaget till MMT och Kristina Willstrand blev chef under något år. När Raymond Kylemark, som kom från företaget Petri, började 1974, slutade Willstrand.
I mitten av 1970-talet hade modet blivit mer ledigt än tidigare, det var "slit och släng" och jeans som gällde, vilket förstås påverkade Magnas resultat negativt. En stor konkurrent till företagat var Aspen i Falköping. 1977 gick företaget i konkurs och drevs av en konkursförvaltare under ca ett år. Konkursförvaltaren gjorde en rekonstruktion av företaget vilket bl.a. innebar att personalstyrkan minskades från 100 till 50 personer.
1978 köpte Jan-Olov Widerström firman och drev den fram till 1987 då det var dags för det sista ägarbytet. Willy Goldberg ägde företaget till dess det lades ner 1988.
Magna hade under 1970-80-talen en agent i Norge och en i Danmark samt en försäljare i Stockholm, en i södra Sverige och en i Norrland. En "riktig stjärnförsäljare" hette Kjell Ottoson. Under Widerströms ägarperiod gjordes försök att komma in på den tyska och schweiziska marknaden. Företaget deltog i ett par utländska mässor, men konkurrensen var hård och efter ett år lades försöket ner. En period var man inne på att försöka sälja kläder till Sovjetunionen. Plagg blev sålda och levererade men det var svårt att få in betalningen, varpå även den försöket avslutades.
I början av 1970-talet startade firman en klädserie som kallade "Ma Belle". Dessa plagg gjordes i 20-serien, en kollektion för kvinnor som var korta och runda. Man vände sig främst till en äldre kundkrets men även till yngre som hade svårt att hitta passande kläder. En serie kallades för "Magna Classic" med traditionella modeller och en "Magna Fashion", med mer modebetonade plagg. Kundkretsen var kvinnor från 30-årsålder och uppåt.
Tyger till kläderna köptes på tygmässor i Frankfurt, Tyskland pch Borås. En leverantör var Rydboholm och en Spar-trikå - båda i Borås. Magna samarbetade med en tygtillverkare för att få fram vissa mönster och färger. Det vanligaste var dock att man köpte in färdiga tyger.
Magna gjorde främst klänningar. Enligt Birgitta finns det "riktiga Magna-klänningar" med typiska drag. En riktig Magna-klänning skall var rymlig, inte för naken - helst inte visa för mycket av halsen/bröstet och passformen är viktigt. Vanligaste materialen var ull/polyester på vintern och bomull/polyester på sommaren. Även plagg i enbart bomull förekom. Försök med ull som kunden kunde tvätta själv gjordes men blev aldrig lyckat. Magna kunde ha upp till sex kollektioner per år.

Trots att antalet sömmerskor utökades allt eftersom efterfrågan på kläderna steg, fortsatte man med att lägga ut sömnadsarbetet under många år.
De var allra flesta som arbetade på Magna var kvinnor. Säljarna var män och de på lagret, men annars var det i stort sett bara kvinnor.
Magna sydde damkläder - till en början mest nattlinnen och städrockar. Senare bestod produktionen främst av klänningar men även blusar, byxor och västar. Däremot gjordes aldrig några "tunga" dräkter eller kappor. Främst vände man sig till lite äldre kvinnor. Materialen till största delen av lättskötta synteter.
Hugo Molin hade butiken "Arbetarboden" vid torget i Uddevalla och det var där varorna såldes i början. Senare kom "Stil Mode" att bli en av återförsäljarna i Uddevalla.

Birgitta Nyström-Frost var designer på företaget mellan åren 1970-1988. Det är genom henne Bohusläns museum fått mycket information om enskilda plagg som tillverkats på företaget.
